Kathie's clients are executives and business owners who are experiencing a significant transition in their lives. This will typically involve a career change or retirement, sale of a business, divorce, widowhood or caring for an aging parent. Kathie describes her role as the client's personal "Chief Financial Officer," and often works with their existing investment, tax and legal advisors to provide a holistic approach to their financial plan. Kathie has found that her clients are appreciative of this coordinated effort since all parties are working toward the same goals.

Kathie began her career in the financial services industry in 1980 at Merrill Lynch where she worked as an investment advisor for nine years. She joined the organization in 1990, and formed Infinity Financial Group in 2005. Kathie's career accomplishments include the FINRA Series 7 General Securities Representative, the FINRA Series 65 Investment Advisory Associate, and the Chartered Life Underwriter, (CLU) designation. She is very involved in civic activities, but is especially supportive of Capital Hospice where she is a certified patient volunteer, serves on their Planned Giving Committee, and is a member of their Speaker's Bureau. Other community involvement includes the Reston Chamber of Commerce, The Executive Women's Roundtable, and Rotary International.

It’s Your Home, Not Your Retirement

Although downsizing or using a reverse mortgage to free up home equity can be appropriate for some older retirees, planning to rely on your home to fund your retirement is a corner you may not want to paint yourself into.

Put Some Infrastructure in Your Portfolio

The normally placid muni bond market has been roiled by a confluence of variables related to the stock market, slow economic growth, and credit-market woes. One result has been yields high enough to get the attention of investors who normally stick to Treasurys.

Adding Stability in Volatile Times

One strategy that can add growth potential to a portfolio, without assuming many of the risks associated with the financial markets, involves purchasing an annuity contract from an insurance company.

Should You Found a Foundation?

If you want to control how and where your donations are used, create an entity that has the potential to last for generations, and unite family members behind a worthy cause — and don’t mind some fairly strict paperwork requirements — this type of organization might be worth considering.
